Hello and happy summer from all your friends here at Monroe Superstore. Of course, we’re the friendly Dodge dealer serving Toledo, OH and your one-stop shop for all your automotive needs. The summer months also mean specific kinds of service and maintenance to ensure that you’re getting the most out of your vehicle. Today we’ll share some great tips about tire care to help keep you safe and your vehicle at peak performance.
Many people assume that tire care is down to just simply maintaining proper inflation and having enough tread. While both of those are true, there is more detail to consider. For instance, perhaps you’re driving a 2018 Dodge Challenger and you’re ready to hit the open road on a summertime adventure. It’s crucial that your tires aren’t under-inflated or over-inflated for many reasons.
When tire pressure is too low or too high, you compromise safety, fuel efficiency, ride comfort, and handling. Under-inflated tires can increase fuel consumption and decrease lifespan. Conversely, over-inflated tires have more contact with the road, which can cause premature wear.
You’ll want to regularly check the PSI on your tires, especially when there are temperature swings. For every 10-degree change in temperature, tires lose or gain 1 PSI. You may also find that the PSI changes after you’ve been driving for awhile. This is a result of the tires heating up and is perfectly normal; just be sure to check the pressure before you hit the road.
Monroe Superstore offers a great service center where we can assist with all your tire-related services and address any questions that you may have. We hope you found these tips helpful, and we’d love to talk to you more in person here at our Chrysler dealership, Monroe Superstore.
