Once again, the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) has held their annual Texas Auto Roundup to determine the best of the best vehicles across a variety of categories. It will come as no surprise to fans of Chrysler and Jeep® models that both brands were honored in the event. In fact, FCA US LLC models topped more categories than any other manufacturer.
More than 50 journalists tested a total of 42 cars over the course of two days. The vehicles were evaluated on a 3.4 mile track that includes twenty turns, a 133-foot hill, and a slalom section using cones. The variability on the course allowed TAWA journalists to see how the cars performed in a variety of circumstances and get a well-rounded view of each.
The all-new 2017 Jeep Compass was named Activity Vehicle of Texas, impressing the judges with its versatility, capability, and practical styling. In the Performance Utility Vehicle of Texas category, it was the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT that took top honors, with TAWA journalists particularly noting its handling, power, and overall value in its segment.
And when it came to the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, two or three awards weren’t enough – the all-new minivan topped four categories, including two of the most prestigious. The model won out in the Green Car category, as well as being awarded the top place for the Best New Feature – its hybrid powertrain. It was named Minivan of Texas, as well as being honored with one of the competition’s most prestigious awards, Family Car of Texas. TAWA judges raved about everything from its fuel efficiency to its innovative technology, and of course, the safety features to keep families secure.
You don’t need to be from their state to appreciate the knowledge of the TAWA journalists. And it’s clear from their expert evaluation that you can find the perfect SUV or family car when you visit your local Jeep and Chrysler dealership. Toledo, OH, Dundee, MI, and other local drivers can find the award-winning 2017 Jeep Compass, 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and 2017 Chrysler Pacifica with a visit to Monroe Superstore.
