Everyone knows that any minivan is a safe choice for your family, right? After all, why else would they be so popular? But as it turns out, that’s not always the case. In fact, for 2017, only one minivan on the market has been selected by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) as a Top Safety Pick+, their highest safety honor. The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica has the distinction of being the only minivan on the market to claim a Top Safety Pick+ title, which it adds to the best possible safety rating – five-star – from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). It’s a favorite of ours at Monroe Superstore!

What does it take to get the best safety rating from IIHS? It takes the highest rating of “good” on each of five crash tests, which simulate everything from a side-impact crash with a large truck or SUV to a whiplash-inducing rear collision. But simply passing those tests, which the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica does thanks to hard-working engineers and a body structure made up of over 70% high-strength steel, is not enough. The all-new minivan also had to subject its Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system to an examination. But thanks to Chrysler automakers’ dedication to safety, the model’s AEB, Forward Collision Warning-Plus, passed with flying colors and earned the highest possible “superior” rating, ensuring the designation of Top Safety Pick+.
